David Anderson Cox
-Played By Cat-
Nickname(s): Dave, Davie (but
only by those closest to him)
Age: 17
Grade: Senior
Birthday: April 14th
Appearance: David is a towering
colossal of a human being at 6'5." Not only is he tall,
but muscularly defined as well, although you'd never really
know it by the constant array of button down, collared shirts
he can be found in. His short, dark hair is worn spiked up in
the front most days as it has gotten it that length where it
doesn't do much for him to leave it laying flat. He has dark,
brooding, almost intense eyes and most people think he's always
in deep thought or concentration, which is true most of the
time. His pensive look though is usually just a put on as his
smile is always genuine and has a tendency to smile a lot.
David can usually be found sporting the latest styles in fashion
for men. It really depends on what day you catch him on as to
what he's wearing. If he's worked at the firm in the morning,
chances are he'll be at school in a clean, crisp button down
and a pair of khaki's or jean, or, if he has to come straight
to school for a Student Council or some other extracurricular,
a simple Polo shirt or logo T will be his attire of choice.
Personality: In a word, loyal.
David's a faithful friend and is always around when you need
a helping hand. He's not one for the backstabbing and such that
seems to go on in the many different high school cliques. He
is truly a kind hearted, loving person, but doesn't let himself
get taken advantage of. His smarts and quick wit have ensured
him of that. He has a keen sense of business, as well as the
law, which have been ingrained into him as a young child and
now as a teenager on the verge of adulthood.
David is extremely smart, but very modest, and most of his friends
don't know he's close to the top of his class. Little do they
know that this jock/school leader/all around nice guy could
potentially be the valedictorian. He doesn't like to talk about
his grades though as he feels that sort of thing isn't really
anyone's business. He's driven, although at times he wish he
wasn't as he seems to sometimes take on more than he can handle.
He's a charmer, that much is true, but not like the other guys
at Richmond. He's sincere in his charm and that's what makes
all the difference. His father taught him the manners with which
he conducts himself day in and day out, whether it's in the
office, at school, with friends, or on a date. He's a gentleman
through and through and he'd never compromise that for anything.
Family: David is the only son
of Ethan and Theresa Cox, former high school sweethearts. They
stayed together throughout Ethan's college years at Harvard
and once he passed the bar, he proposed marriage. Theresa, while
outwardly thrilled at the idea of marrying the successful lawyer,
was actually pushed into the marriage by her parents. Nine months
later, David was welcomed into the world and Ethan couldn't
be happier. Theresa, however, never wanted the child and two
months after he was born, she hit the road running. Ethan, now
having set up his own firm with Harvard classmate and Richmond
alum, Allen Noble, drew up the papers for a quickie divorce
which gave him custody of his son, since it was clear, after
many weeks with no contact, that Theresa would never be coming
back.
When his son was two, Ethan met Gwen at an alumni function in
Boston held by the Mayor Winthrop, Gwen's father. The second
he laid eyes on her, he knew he was in love. After many months
of wooing and many trips back and forth between Ridgefield and
Boston, Gwen finally accepted Ethan's proposal of marriage.
She moved to Ridgefield, although reluctantly at first. The
two were married soon thereafter and had two children, Madison
(13) and Alex (10).
Little is known of Theresa, David's birth mother, but it is
no secret that he very rarely refers to her as his mother. Instead
it is Gwen who is his mother, as she has really been the only
woman he has ever known as such. Not very many people know this,
of course, except for those who are in his father's circle.

Mr & Mrs Cox
History: As stated earlier, his
mother left their family when he was only a baby. He's never
known her and has only seen pictures of her. He tried to contact
her a few times, but she didn't even want to speak with him.
While the rejection never really affected him outwardly, at
least he never thought so, he is more loyal for it. He would
never want anyone that he truly cared for to experience that
type of rejection.
He met his two best and closest friends, McKenzie and Alistair
Drew, in kindergarten and they've been friends ever since. He's
been there when they needed him the most and they've been there
when he's needed them the most. He has a special bond with McKenzie
because when he was only 11 he donated blood for her when she
needed a transfusion when she was hospitalized for bulimia/anorexia.
He used to think that he was perhaps falling in love with his
best friend, but soon shrugged that off, calling it crazy. He
buried those feelings though, rationalizing that that sort of
thing could never happen.
It was at the age of sixteen that he began to work at his father's
firm. While some would think it foolish, to start working when
he really didn't have to, he enjoyed taking home a check every
week and placing it in his checking account. It was in that
respect that he was very different from his fellow Laurelhurstians.
His work ethic was impeccable, one to be admired, as his knowledge
of the law grew with each passing week, and his father couldn't
be happier. It's no secret that Ethan wants his son to follow
in his footsteps at Harvard, but David makes no promises. He's
still young and a lot can change between the beginning of the
year, the time for filling out college applications, and the
end of the year.

Quote: "Finish each day and be done with it. You
have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have
crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new
day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit
to be encumbered with your old nonsense." Ralph Waldo Emerson
