Oliver James Hall

-DECEASED-

Nickname(s): Ollie, Olls (usually by McKenzie only)

Age: 18

Grade: Senior

Birthday: June 14

Appearance: At first glance, Oliver Hall may seem like somewhat of a simple being but yet one gaze into his deep blue eyes proves to tell another story of a young soul that has suffered through many hardships. He's a rather good looking young man, standing at 5'11" with short and untamed brown hair and a goofy grin that is rarely seen. Ollie enjoys the simplicity of his style, often clad in jeans and a t-shirt -- nothing too fancy for he really couldn't afford it even if he desired such clothing. Although, he always makes it a point to keep his clothing crisp and clean, never wanting to give off the impression that he comes from the wrong side of town or that he could be struggling financially, though the truth of his status is known by many.

Personality: Oliver can come across as a bit rough around the edges, especially after first impression but the few who really know him, know that he's a kind-hearted soul who wouldn't hurt a fly. To some, Ollie may be seen as unfriendly or unapproachable for he often keeps to himself and when he does interact with other people, it takes a lot to gain his trust and for him to really open up to someone. He often scolds himself for being so pessimistic and judgmental, though he's finding both bad habits hard to break. His pessimism and his tendency to be quick to judge usually add to this aura of unfriendliness some may perceive. Although, the minute he encounters the few he is comfortable with, he may seem as if he were a totally different person, cracking smiles and a bit of humor seeping out every once in a blue moon.

Through his struggles, Oliver has adapted (or more was forced) to become a hardworking young man and can often be found working in the local bookshop or rundown gas station to assist his father in paying the rent. His pessimism has instilled the idea in his head that he'll be spending the rest of his life working these two shitty jobs, unfortunately too for Oliver is very gifted. Although blessed with intelligence, the blue-eyed young man hardly applies himself in school; some speculate that if he were to do so, he'd probably excel.

Oliver hates the fact that he often overanalyzes situations and over-worries; he tries not to let his thoughts get the best of him but as of late, it seems to be losing battle. Perhaps this is why he is often perceived as being so quiet for he's often lost in critical thought about something or the other. Not to be fooled though, for Oliver doesn't mind joking around every once in awhile when he gets around a good friend, though those seem to be scarce at the moment.

After his mother's departure and the stress and heartbreak that accompanied this life-changing event, he's picked up the bad habit of smoking, which he tries hard to break every once in a while when life begins to look optimistic. There's a bit of a trust issue that afflicts Oliver's mind after his mother's abandonment (hence why he's not very open to many). Living for the past three years with only one parent, who is more than often not around, has made Oliver much more self-sufficient and mature than your average eighteen-year-old.

Family: Father (Jack Hall, 43 - Mase Auto Body Shop); Mother (Heather Hall - Whereabouts unknown)

-Heather Hall-
Oliver's Mother
-Jack Hall-
Oliver's Father

History: There are very few people in the world who can boast of a rags-to-riches story or what is commonly known as the "Horatio Alger" tale. Unfortunately, that's not the tale that comprises Oliver Hall's life.

The Halls had resided within the ranks of Ridgefield's upper middle class for several generations until as of late. Jack and Heather Hall were high school sweethearts that went on to be married in their early twenties after college and later start a family with the birth of their son Oliver. Oliver's father, Jack traveled often as a successful businessman and brought home a hefty paycheck each week, titling him as the breadwinner of the family.

From the day he was born, Heather adored her son and she even went as far as to quit her job so she could spend more time with her blue-eyed wonder. Thus, it was no surprise that from day one, Oliver was a complete mama's boy. He loved his mother to death and many of his childhood memories are of her. His father was often out of town on business or always working and Oliver never was really able to develop a full relationship with him. To this day they are still rather distant.

Although, one day it all came crashing down when Oliver was fifteen and the corporation went bankrupt. The Halls watched as generations of hard work were lost along with Jack Hall's stable job and the large house they resided in. Oliver's mother, unable to bear the thought of being poor (or so Oliver assumes), ran off with another man, leaving Oliver and Jack to fend for themselves. It's a touchy subject for Ollie who sometimes can't understand why his mother would leave him like that, especially given the great relationship they had even up until the day she left.

Neighborhood:
Greenwich. Oliver and his father reside in a small two-room apartment that they barely are able to pay the rent for. Having grown up in a spacious and lavish house in Capitol Hill, Ollie still has trouble coming to terms with calling the small apartment 'home'.

Job: Page Turners and Simply Gas

Vehicle: He use to have a 1964 Cadillac Fleetwood but it was a vehicle that he eventually found to be unreliable, especially when it died on him. For now, he usually bums a ride with McKenzie or walks.

Best Friend(s):
His girlfriend, McKenzie Drew. Others to be decided with game play.

Dating Status: Currently dating his childhood best friend, McKenzie Drew -- the one person who probably really knows the real Oliver. While he dated here and there throughout his teenage years, Oliver considers McKenzie to be his first real girlfriend.
To many, they come across as an odd couple with McKenzie being the star gymnast and friendly to all and Oliver with his quietness and often keeping to himself. Deep down though, while some may never understand their relationship, Oliver knows that no one gets him just like Kenz does.

Social Status: Middle - He use to be somewhat confident when life wasn't dealing him a bad hand but now his self-esteem has sunk pretty low. Nowadays, he kind of shrinks back into his own little world at times, finding it hard to socialize with others, though once you gain his trust you'll find a pretty friendly and gentle soul underneath it all.

Other Information:
Oliver is very much into the arts and while he can't exactly draw, he's usually found with his nose in a book (hence his job at Page Turners), taking pictures somewhere, watching an artsy film, or going to the art museum. Although, as of recently, with holding down two jobs, managing to keep up in school, and trying to have a stable relationship with McKenzie, he finds that he often doesn't have the time to enjoy all this.

Likes: Literature, Art, Film, Reading while on the job, Photography, Girls, Smoking to relieve tension (although he's been trying to cut back as of late)

Dislikes: School, Mind games, Womanizers, the fact that he smokes, and Snobs

Quote: "In life's wallet, there's no compartment for change."

Any extra-curricular non-school activity: Hanging out with his girlfriend and working are the two activities that consume most of Oliver's life
