Veronica Gwendolyn Steele
-Available-
Nickname(s): Ronnie
Age: 18
Grade: Senior
Birthday: July 21
Appearance: Ronnie doesn't
think of herself as anything special, despite the innumerable
times she's turned heads or been called 'beautiful'. She has
plain brown hair that's pin-straight and cascades down to her
elbows. Her eyes are a colbat blue, dazzling up close yet
almost black from far away. Her cheeks are always tinted
with a rosy pink and her lips are never seen without a
hint of color. Ronnie doesn't cake on her make-up, but
she does believe it enchances her lips and pearly complexion.
She hates to admit it, but Veronica is very much obsessed with
fashion. And she should be, she has a slender size 4 figure with
long legs. That's the recipe for success when shopping. Women's
magazine's litter her bedroom and she often rips out the pages
that inspire her. She owns more Rock and Republic jeans and
little black dresses than anyone else in Ridgefield (because
they are the easiest to accessorize - Ronnie loves accessories).
Semi-conservative, Ronnie isn't afraid to show some skin,
especially for her boyfriend. But she tends to make sure she
looks respectable and appropriate for all occassions.
Personality: Ever since
the very beginning of school, Veronica was tagged as the
'shy girl'. She's not really. She has a goofy sense of
humor and sometimes laughs too loud. She's a conversationalist
and can come up with a million things to talk about with a
friend. The shy part comes in upon uncomfortable situations
- which is whenever she's meeting a new person or finds
herself unexpectedly in the spotlight. Ronnie is probably
the Queen of Awkward Silences, but they usually melt away
the moment she smiles. She can be reserved and on a bad
day she's a recluse. Ronnie prefer's that the curtains be
drawn and the music set low. It's not like her to brood,
but it is like her to spend time in solitude.
To many people on the outside looking in, Ronnie's as typical
as you get. Warm and inviting, sweet and funny; but she's very
artistic. Writing is her gift. She's an average student in all
her other classes, but the way she can evoke emotion with a
single string of words has made her a star in English over
the years. She shuts herself off from the world when she needs
to write and channels alot of energy into the creative process.
Veronica is fiercely protective of her private things and would
freak out big time if someone intruded.
She is a sheltered child though; never experiencing anything
worth being on the evening news. Ronnie doesn't dabble in the
ways of the promiscuous or the destructive. She's not all catty
and bitchy with other girls. She goes out of her way sometimes
to make other people like her, just as a means of keeping the
peace. Ronnie can be very naive when it comes to danger because
her first thought is, 'Oh, that kind of stuff doesn't happen to
people like me'. And she brushes it off. With good reason: she
has a happy home, great friends, wonderful parents, an interesting
job and a committed boyfriend that loves her dearly. Ronnie has
a drama-free life and demeanor that most in this town would kill
for and she knows how blessed she is...
Family: Harley Steele, mother
- Drugstore Pharmacist. Very nurturing and lively despite her
boring job. It's Harley's fault Ronnie is so obsessed with
fashion. She buys the majority of her ELLE Magazines.
Harley rallies against her husband for her daughter's
rights, but prefers to keep the peace in the midst of
a possible fight. She knows her husband has good intentions.
She got Ronnie her job and is always encouraging her to
spend more time outside her room.
Declan Steele, father - chef at DiMarco's. A strict man
that spoils his daughter and wife so they won't be too upset
with the fact that he shelters Ronnie. He doesn't like the
idea that she's had a boyfriend for so long and that when
she does go out with her friend's they stay out exceptionally
late. Declan does encourage Veronica's writing and her sense
of humor, he has also taught her how to cook and they have
meaningful talks in the kitchen.

History:Born and raised
in Ridgefield, Ronnie is one of those notorious lifers.
Her grandparents were raised here. Her mom and dad fell
in love here. So it's only natural that she feel the same
way. Ronnie has many childhood memories of backyard barbeque's,
snowball fights, and Field Day at Richmond Elementary.
She'd always lived a happy, normal life. When she started
3rd grade, Riley Steele, her first cousin transfered to
Richmond. The girls became inseperable. Ronnie made lots
of friends outside of Riley, but they remained close well
into middle school. The Steele Family was thrown into chaos
though, one night after a Junior Varsity Football Game.
Ronnie was cheerleading and Riley was with the band. Of
course their parents were there to enjoy the night with
them. When it was over, Veronica suggested that Riley spend
the night at her house and see a movie over the weekend. She
prefered to hang out with some girls from the band and ride
with them to the movies tonight. Her parents had already
agreed and one of the other girl's mother's would be driving.
Ronnie said okay and it was the last time she'd seen her best-
friend alive.
The call came in the middle of the night. Riley and her friend's
and her friend's mom had been in a terrible drunk driving accident.
No one survived. Ronnie was devastated. She spent a week in her
room refusing to eat or talk. Her parents tried to reach out to
her make her reach out to another friend, but Ronnie shut
herself off. She finally saw a shrink and dealt with the
pain constructively. With time she healed and when she
started high school, Ronnie was ready to move on with her
life. But she saw a change in her father. He didn't want
her to have a ton of friends. He hated the idea of her
staying out late and tried to keep her home as often as
possible; where "she was safe". It was driving Ronnie up
the wall. She knew he was still stuck on Riley's death
and he was scared that something like that could happen
to her. Her mother helped convince her father to let her
have a social life and she had a relatively normal 9th grade year.
In the 10th, Veronica met Timothy Davenport. Having a boyfriend
was as far from her mind as committing a felony. She'd just
gained her Dad's trust back and she was thoroughly involved in
her sports and clubs. Her teacher had recruited her for a writing
club and her mother had found her a job. Yet somehow, Ronnie
ended up falling for the handsome boy who refused to let her
get away so easily. They started to date and some how Ronnie
got in deeper. Her father was never too fond of Timothy. He saw
him as the usual suspect, trying to get something from Ronnie.
But her mother thought Tim was an angel and she acted as a buffer
between her Dad's over protectiveness and her newfound happiness.
He was her first love and he still is. She lived inside a whirlwind
for the next two years. It was always school, clubs, work, sleep.
Tim was her relief. He was her first and she wouldn't have wanted
it any other way. He made her feel so amazing and after a while
Ronnie couldn't comprehend how she'd made it this far without a
great, loving guy like Tim.
Timothy's been having some problems at home though that have
grabbed Ronnie's attention. Earlier that year his father was
in a car accident. For her the news hit too close to home and
brought back a lot of the same painful emotions she had when
Riley died. The shock. The denial. The numbness. Except this
was much more serious. Ronnie was there for Tim around the
clock. She tapped into strength she didn't know she had. She
helped him cope and it was difficult at times, but it made
them stronger as a couple. Ronnie knows he still misses his
Dad dearly. It's a feeling that won't go away anytime soon
yet Ronnie has hope in her eyes. Tim will get better and he'll
be back to his usual self with time. Tomorrow's always a little
bit better than yesterday.
